Review and rights
Review and rights
Every published Work passes separate human editorial, rights, and publication decisions.
Step 1
Writers keep copyright
A Writer does not give Pilcrow ownership of a Work. The Writer gives Pilcrow a nonexclusive license for the approved version and may publish or license the Work elsewhere.
Step 2
Submission is private
Submitting starts private review. It does not publish the Work. Source files, private summaries, and rights notes remain limited to authorized review paths.
Step 3
A person makes every final decision
When the Writer separately grants permission for the exact Work version, Pilcrow may use AI-assisted tools privately to help an authorized administrator prepare a summary, descriptive metadata, a first draft of teaching materials, or signals that support search, matching, and recommendations. AI does not edit, rewrite, translate, abridge, expand, or replace the literary Work. It does not approve a Work, clear its rights, decide classroom suitability, or publish it.
Step 4
Classroom permission is specific
When a Work says classroom copying is permitted, an Educator may print it or deliver it directly to students in the Educator’s own class, including through a closed classroom system. Public posting, resale, redistribution outside that class, and changes to the literary Work are not included.
Step 5
Corrections and removal
A Writer may correct rights information or request withdrawal or removal. Pilcrow may restrict a Work while reviewing a credible copyright, privacy, safety, or accuracy concern.
